RESIDUE

Conceptual Shoot

Concept

Residue explores grief as what remains after an attachment disappears. Moving through denial, anger, bargaining, and depression, the shoot presents grief as emotional fragments rather than a linear journey. The confined box-like set represents an internal psychological space, where colour, body expression, and symbolic props reflect the weight of absence. Residue focuses on what lingers after loss, because some things don’t leave, they become a part of you.

The Styling

Flowy silhouettes, layered accessories, and worn textures created the feeling of grief settling into the body. The clothing appeared unstructured and protective, as though dressing was an act of comfort rather than self-expression. Each colour world reflected a different stage of grief, while the layered styling suggested emotions accumulating like residue rather than disappearing.

The Psychology

Grief is rarely linear. It moves through the body in cycles of numbness, anger, bargaining, and depression, leaving emotional traces long after loss occurs. When grief remains unresolved, it settles into memory, behaviour, and the body itself, shaping how a person moves, feels, and exists in the world.

The Archetype

The Survivor. Someone who continues forward while carrying the residue of loss. Their strength comes from enduring what cannot be changed, learning to exist alongside pain rather than escape it. They are shaped by grief, but not defined by it, carrying both vulnerability and resilience within them.
